CiB to become Institute of Internal Communication

CiB name change vote at the EGMCiB members have voted for the association to become the Institute of Internal Communication from 13 May 2010.

The vote was taken at an extraordinary general meeting of the association held at the National Council of Voluntary Organisations in London on Wednesday 23 September 2009.

The vote was carried with 80.2% of those voting saying “yes” to the name change. The motion had to attract “yes” votes from 75% of those who voted for it to be carried.

In the end, there were 185 proxy votes (143 “yes” and 42 “no”) and the 27 people at the meeting were unanimous in voting “yes” to the name change.

CiB chairman Dominic Walters said: “This is fantastic news and the end of a very long process. We now have a lot of work to do, but it is a major step forward for the association.

“We will now become the standard bearer for internal communications in this country.”
