Dates for the IoIC's internal communication accreditation diploma programme for 2011 have now been announced.
Foundation level cohorts, for people fairly new to the internal communication profession or for others who have wider experience but no official qualification, have been booked to launch on February 25th, June 10th and October 28th 2011.
Advanced level cohorts for those people in, or aspiring to be in, junior or middle-ranking management positions, will launch on the weeks beginning January 24th and September 12th.
Anyone wishing to move straight to the advanced level will first need to be, or be willing to become, a member of the Institute and pass the foundation level skills examination. People who have successfully completed the foundation level can move straight up to the advanced diploma.
"The foundation diploma asks people to demonstrate mastery of 18 different areas of internal communication skills and knowledge," explained programme director Steve Knight. "It takes around six months and, with the exception of the initial induction day and the final exam, all of the work can be completed either in the workplace or in the candidate's own home. It is ideal for people who want to increase their levels of professionalism but don't want to do too much travelling.
"We are also seeing more companies becoming interested in putting their entire teams through the programme. In many cases, it is the first time people have fully understood that there should be a minimum level of expectation for internal communication professionals at different stages of their career.
"All the feedback we are getting suggests that people who have successfully completed the programme feel more confident about the job they are doing and more able to advise their peers in other areas of the business as well as their senior leaders."
