'We deliver excellent standards’, ‘We welcome innovation’, ‘Respect for people’, ‘Trust and personal responsibility in all relationships’…

Most organisations have a set of values, and usually it’s difficult to disagree with them. So what do they really mean for employees?

Done properly, values will determine how a business is seen by employees and – crucially – potential employees. They can be vital in attracting the best talent.

Jenny Davenport (right) of employer brand consultants People in Business says: “People  just want to know what the deal is. It’s about being clear about what the employment offer is, having a proposition that’s realistic, attractive and distinctive.”

The trick is offering the right ‘deal’ to the right people.

Jenny will be presenting her views on employer branding, including case studies, as the main speaker at an IoIC seminar in London on Wednesday January 18. It is the third in a series of Institute events on the subject of values. Email Brenda@ioic.org.uk for details.
