IoIC members are being offered a £50 discount to a speechwriting seminar in London from 2pm to 5pm on February 22. If speechwriting is part of your job – or you’d like to be able to write the kind of speech that will get you (and your speaker) noticed, The Nuts And Bolts of Speechwriting could be what you need. It will be led by professional speechwriters, Martin Shovel and Martha Leyton, at the Institute for Government in Carlton Gardens. The pair are from Brighton-based Creativity Works and their clients include B Sky B, Bank of New York, Eurostar, John Lewis Partnership, and UNISON. The seminar will cover Martin and Martha’s “speechwriting secrets” including three simple questions to start the process, building a speech around a strong proposition, openings that grab an audience’s attention, and writing “for the ear”.
