The Institute of Internal Communication’s Central Region’s fifth annual seminar is being held at the new Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport on Friday February 24 - and a full list of speakers has been announced. The full-day event will cover internal communication content, channels and capabilities with some of the country’s leading communication experts and practitioners including: David Broome and Julie Mazzei of VMA will share the findings of their annual survey into Professional Development in Internal Communication which shows how today’s communicators need to adapt to survive as their role grows in remit and profile. Liz Cochrane of Kingston Business School will discuss the importance of achieving consistently high standards in Internal Communications via learning, education and skills – which in turn will help transform the internal communications discipline into a full-blown profession. Geraldine Mapp, will tell how National Grid ‘sold in’ the business case for allowing their 27,000 employees to have access to social media at work and will share the communication campaign which ensures their employees know how to use social media and networking sites in a safe and sensible way. Voice coach Priscilla Morris will remind attendees that the voice is one of our most important communication tools and provide some simple tips and techniques for improving your vocal technique and developing your voice so that you can communicate more effectively. Jo Sommers of The Phoenix Group will present the employee engagement campaign that won her in-house team 2011’s Melcrum's Strategic Communication Management Award for Excellence in Employee Engagement. Jeremy Stinton of ST16 will talk about using video as a flexible and effective employee communication channel and show us how personalised video can grab attention and deliver key messages. Susan Walker will show how measurement is playing an increasingly important role in internal communication, helping communicators to meet ever higher expectations from senior leaders and the constant pressure to provide proof of strategic value.
