Course: The Internal Communication Model (2 x 2 days) 20 March start
Training
Sunday, 27 November 2011 00:00

This programme gives you a bespoke model for planning and producing internal communications. It will enable you to take faster, more robust briefs every time; get them approved in double-quick time, and objectively measure their impact - so that IC becomes integral to improving employee performance and future business planning. It can significantly increase your confidence, your influence and your personal market value.

Here are some of the key things you'll learn:

  • How to prove to the senior management, in a matter of minutes, that you're worth an absolute fortune to them - in terms they'll never be able to argue with.
  • The little known 'logical thinking sequence' to take someone through when they're briefing you on an internal communication
  • How to get your clients to instantly identify a precise, valuable outcome for any communication they want you to work on - regardless of how inexperienced or confused they might be. Or, if necessary...
  • ...a whole hatful of questions and tips for getting people to realise - without you having to tell them - that their proposed communication is actually a waste of time
  • 3 simple ways to ever-so-gently move people's egos out of the way when discussing internal communications
  • 6 proven steps for bolstering your clients' credibility with their audiences
  • A quick and easy way to convince people to 'let go' and leave you to it.
  • The simple, five step system for ending writer's block - forever.
  • 2 keys to getting a whole new level of super-valuable feedback from your audiences
  • An instant method for getting your clients to give you enough time to do the job right
  • The six linguistic 'triggers' that make internal business audiences unconsciously switch off: learn what they are, how they work, and how to disarm them all
  • How to improve your own interpersonal influence
  • The solution to those nagging communication approvals that keep going round and round in circles
  • A secret weapon for stopping senior people pulling rank on you when they're wrong

Support

This three-part support package is included in the programme:

Part 1: Pre-learning contract

Two things that can conspire against you getting the most out of any professional learning are:

  1. Not having clear goals in mind before you start
  2. Not having your manager's backing to change the way you do things when you get back.

So when you book a place on this programme, you'll get a pre-course questionnaire that will help you get crystal clear about what you want to achieve. It will help you:

  • Identify the specific professional challenges you need to tackle
  • Understand the benefits not just to you, but to your colleagues, clients and the business, of you tackling those challenges
  • Set clear targets to go for while you're learning.

And you'll need to get your manager to sign it off and return it to your tutor before you can start your learning.

Part 2: Post-learning presentation

Your manager may sign off your learning contract, but they won't know specifically what you're going to learn. So afterwards they may want some reassurance that it's OK to support your new way of working. That's why, after each tuition day you'll receive a PowerPoint presentation that covers all the key learning.
You can use it to:

  • Get your manager up to speed with what you've learned
  • Reinforce your learning by sharing it with your colleagues (one of the best ways of learning is to teach)
  • Broaden your influence, by presenting it to anyone else around your business who needs to sanction the changes you want to make.

Part 3: Follow-up coaching

It's so often the case that, even with the best of intentions, the pressures of the day job can take over when we return to work. Or sometimes we may think we've understood something in the classroom, but when we get back to the office our understanding turns out to be a bit muzzy.

So about a fortnight after each of the four tuition days you'll also get a follow-up coaching phone call from your tutor, to help keep you on track. You'll be able to:

  • Go back over anything you want to understand better
  • Ask questions about how to apply your learning in specific situations you hadn't thought of in the classroom
  • Celebrate your successes and maybe even find new places to apply your burgeoning skills.

And for the next 12 months you'll be able to ring or email your tutor, to ask any questions about applying your learning, or chat through any blocks you might have encountered.

In short, you'll get all the support possible to help you make the changes that you want, and that the business needs, so both you and your employer/clients can flourish.

Dates, timings, cost
If you're interested in an in-house programme for your organisation, we'll happily run it for groups of 4 to 8 people.

As for open courses, these are usually held in London, unless there's enough demand to hold them elsewhere. Again, there are only eight places available on any programme.

This is a rolling programme, which means that if you can't make all four dates, you can pick up, just a few weeks later, where you left off.

Tuition days now run from 9.00am - 6.00pm.

Venue: central London

"The course was fantastic - far better than I expected. ROB is amazing and has IC down to a fine art. He made me see IC in a completely different light. The depth of detail we went into was incredible and everything we learnt was useful for my role in some way."
