People who wish to enrol for the Advanced Diploma of Proficiency in Internal Communication will be allocated to a specific cohort and given joining instructions for the cohort’s initial stimulus event once their payment has been received. At the stimulus event, students will meet the other members of their cohort of IC practitioners who are preparing for the qualification at the same time. Cohorts are groups of (usually) 4-8 people, allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
Each cohort will have its own stimulus event. For 2012, the next event is planned late January/early February and there may be another in the autumn. Lunch and other refreshments will be provided.
During the stimulus event, each cohort will receive a full briefing from a member of the IoIC accreditation programme team, who will explain in detail: the entire diploma process; the inputs expected from those taking the diploma; the standards required to attain the qualification, and the collaborative aspects of the diploma.
The cohort will also hear from a senior IC practitioner about the group challenge, for which each student’s contribution will count towards the individual’s diploma result. Cohort members will also meet the facilitator, another highly experienced IC professional, who will be assigned by IoIC to provide guidance to the cohort and monitor individuals’ participation in the group challenge.
Potential courses (IoIC and other providers) may be recommended to cohort members to help them reach the required standard but taking these is NOT a necessary requirement of the diploma.
Attendance at the stimulus event is required without exception. Anyone who fails to attend will be unable to progress to the rest of the diploma and refunds will not be given. In exceptional cases adjudged legitimate by IoIC, and where advance notice has been given, students may instead be offered an opportunity to move to a later cohort. Such cases are rare.
