Outline
Objectives (know your client, understanding the client's objectives and your own); planning (the briefing, budgeting, finding a venue, creating a database - delegates, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, guests - confirming the programme and speakers, marketing the event externally and internally to delegates, sponsors and exhibitors); implementation (administration, finances, catering, equipment, materials, signage); and more.

About the tutor:

In a 40-year career Neil Jones has worked in public relations and marketing in a wide range of industries from marine electronics through the motor industry to brewing and, for the last 20 years, oil and gas.

Based in Scotland, he provides PR consultancy services to business and the arts, as well as working as a journalist and critic.

Well versed in event management, he is currently the conference manager for the AB+ cultural conference, where 200 delegates from arts, politics and business will be brainstorming ideas for the delivery of a new cultural strategy for the city of Aberdeen.

In addition, over the past few years he has undertaken public relations and marketing, funding and business management consultancy projects for BP, Shell and 3M and last year helped organisations as diverse as ENER-G and the City of London Sinfonia develop their PR strategies.

A Chartered Institute of Public Relations Approved Trainer, Neil delivers event management, crisis communication, PR and writing skills courses in the UK and overseas.
