The Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC) exists to support internal communication practitioners in their careers, promote high professional standards within the sector and raise general awareness of the value of internal communication. See our Objectives.

It is the only professional institute in the UK dedicated to furthering internal communication knowledge and practice.

Members include broad generalists and those specialising in strategy planning and delivery, writing, design, online, print, measurement and brand management. They come from the public and private sectors, and in-house, freelance and agency backgrounds.

IoIC member companies include Lloyds TSB, NS&I, Nationwide, BP, Rolls-Royce, BT, HSBC, AXA, Aviva and many more.

The Institute offers a variety of Membership Benefits.

Its involvement in internal communication goes back to 1949 with the foundation of the British Association of Industrial Editors. Its History has evolved in line with the development of internal communication.

IoIC is a non-profit making organisation, limited by guarantee. All proceeds from its activities are re-invested in the Institute.

Administration is carried out by a small team at head office led by the chief executive. The Institute is directed by a member-elected board, led by the national chairman, all of whom are volunteers. IoIC prides itself on producing high-quality, value-for-money events on both a national and regional basis. All the activity teams are made up of volunteers.
