This an exciting role for an enthusiastic internal communications professional. Essex Police is a growing, complex organisation with more than 5,500 police officers, staff and volunteers spread across the county. The five-strong Internal Communications team helps colleagues to feel informed and valued, supporting Essex Police in achieving the objectives of our strategic vision.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills across a range of media, understand the specific communications needs of both an office-based and peripatetic workforce, pay attention to detail and accuracy, and ideally have experience of working on different content management systems. You will have a collaborative approach to your work, be a great influencer to help colleagues get their message across in the right way, and always consider how to measure the success of a project. Event planning experience is also useful; juggling diaries, venues, invitations and guests’ requests, briefings … and always having a plan B in your back pocket.
Applicants should be working towards qualifications in internal communications, journalism, or public relations or similar subject or an equivalent standard qualification. This will be combined with around 2-3 years’ experience in those fields.
Applicants are required to provide evidence of the following skills/experience in their application:
  1. Excellent writing skills for range of media
  2. Accuracy in every aspect of work
  3. At least two years’ experience in an internal comms and engagement role
  4. Evidence of influencing for a positive outcome
