Delivered over two days of interactive online webinars, discussions and practical exercises, Accelerate Part Two is focused on driving change, demonstrating value and becoming a trusted advisor. The course equips practitioners with the learning they need to add even more value to their organisation and build their reputation. 

Accelerate is particularly aimed at individuals with 1-5 years' of internal communication experience who are looking to take on strategic roles with confidence, but will also benefit more experienced practitioners who wish to fine-tune their skills and gain new insights.

 

Consisting of seven distinct modules, including a brand new module on managing IC in a post-Coronavirus world, Accelerate Part Two covers: 

Managing and Tracking Communication Projects

Juggling multiple projects is a vital skill for any communicator. To succeed, you need to understand and ‘speak the language’ of project management and be able to apply this in your role.

Research and Evaluation

Internal communication is a business function that’s having to justify its costs. Are you ready? Following this module, you’ll be able to build your own measurement framework and prove your value.

The Fundamentals of Change Communication

Change is everywhere – and communication plays a vital role when major developments are under way. We’ll guide you through the most important thinking in this area and show you what matters most.

Leading Organisations Through Transition

When change and transition happens, organisations need a ‘safe pair of hands’ with the creativity and clarity required to lead employees through uncertainty. Here we’ll explore the psychological journey we need to take people on in order for change to stick.

Driving Engagement Through Leaders and Line Managers

The engagement research underlines the vital role of leaders and managers. In this module, we’ll provide a recipe for building engagement through these two critical groups.

Becoming a Trusted Advisor

Positioning yourself as a trusted advisor is the key to being taken seriously in communication. To build trust, you first need relationships. In this module, we’ll provide a framework for doing this.

Managing IC in a Post-Coronavirus World

The past couple of months have been out of the ordinary. We’ve been both forced and inspired to try out new things and new ways of working – some good, some bad. Now, we’re slowly coming back to a sense of normality. But, you can’t just go back to ‘normal’ – you have to find your ‘new normal’.

This module looks at how the landscape for IC practitioners has changed as a result of Covid-19, how communications can support organisations and employees to find their ‘new normal’ and provides a framework for managing crisis communications.

 

All participants will also gain: 

  • Pre and post course access to Canvas, the IoIC's online learning environment, where they will find all course materials and be able to engage with their fellow participants
  • The opportunity to try things out in the workplace before coming back together as a group for discussions and feedback
  • A network of like-minded professionals to connect with and learn from

 

About the trainers

Kevin McDougall

Kevin joined the Gatehouse team in January 2020 and has more than 20 years’ experience across the communications disciplines. He started his agency career in the WPP network, servicing clients such as Virgin Atlantic and Emirates Airlines. Kevin has also held several in-house roles including senior roles at BBC, TfL, Hiscox and KPMG.

Kevin’s role at Gatehouse is to ensure clients receive a world-class service from the team and to open up the potential of the Gallagher network to our clients. Kevin thrives on understanding ‘people’ and enjoys working with clients to work through their real communications problems in order to deliver the best possible business outcomes.

Eleanor Tweddell

Eleanor Tweddell is a facilitator, coach and writer. After a career of 22 years in corporate communications, including Head of Comms for Virgin Atlantic, Vodafone, Costa Coffee and RAC, Eleanor started her own consultancy with clients including Channel 4, Trinity Mirror and Harvey Nichols, and also founded Another Door which supports people through change, job loss and rethinking their careers.

In November 2020 Penguin published her book, Why losing your job could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Eleanor is also a writer and a podcast host.
