Speaker(s)

Tom Abbott, Dominic Walters

Details

Until internal communication professionals actively measure and demonstrate the real business value of what they do to the entire management layer of their organisations, they risk never being afforded the same amount of time, resources and importance as other functional activities.

Following research conducted in 2005, Tom Abbott and Dominic Walters developed the Five Step Value Framework (FSVF) – a mix of measures designed to help communicators demonstrate the true value of IC activities.

The Framework draws on measurement strategies from other operational functions. Only by adopting similar ways to measure and demonstrate the value of its own operation will internal communication be able to move forward with more significance.

At the end of the course, participants will:
  • Have clarity on how internal communication (IC) can add value to an organisation
  • Introduction to the Five Step Value Framework (FSVF) and the approach behind it
  • Be equipped to apply the FSVF to your organisation and ensure IC adds value and contributes to the organisation’s success.

The course will cover:
  • Why we need to communicate
  • Reasons for the relationship breakdown between the business and IC and how to raise the game
  • Introduction to the FSVF
  • How to change your mindset – what drives leaders’ behaviours and what this means for IC
  • Mapping out your strategy
  • Measuring the strategic value of IC
  • Presenting the value to the organisation
  • Getting the organisation working together to create the circle
