Evidence shows that employee engagement is both an important driver of organisational performance and a measure most organisations struggle to attain, despite increased investment.

The reasons for this are complex, but two key areas concern communicators, in particular. First, what engagement is and what drives it is often misunderstood and, as a result, organisational focus and investment are frequently misdirected.  Also, many organisations mistakenly view communication as simply a means of talking about engagement, rather than a key tool for driving and sustaining it.  This virtual learning course - delivered over a series of interactive webinars, online group discussions, and individual tasks and workplace assignments -  will equip communicators with new insights, strong evidence and practical tools to address both of these issues and make a real difference in their organisations.

  • Webinar: Supporting Leaders in EngagementWednesday 15 July, 10.00 - 11.30



At the end of the course, participants will:

  • Understand how engagement works and how to use communication to increase it
  • Know how to connect communication and engagement in their strategy and practice
  • Be able to use engagement surveys to make meaningful improvements and prove communications ROI


All participants will also gain: 

  • Pre and post course access to Canvas, the IoIC's online learning environment, where they will find all course materials and be able to engage with their fellow participants
  • The opportunity to try things out in the workplace before coming back together as a group for discussions and feedback

  • Using engagement surveys and other evidence to prove communication ROI
  • Understanding and enabling engagement during change
  • The role of leaders in engagement and how to support them


About the trainer

Course tutor, Dr Domna Lazidou is a culture and engagement communication expert with over 25 years' experience. She recently gained her PhD from Cranfield University, researching the relationship between culture and communication practice in organisations. Domna is also a lecturer at Warwick University.
