NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally.

We are looking for an accomplished Employee Communications Advisor to work closely with the Employee Communications Consultant (Centres) to support the development and delivery of the employee communication strategy for the centre, in support of NATS’ vision, strategy and priorities.

You will be expected to plan and coordinate communication and engagement activity in line with the communication strategy for the centre, maintaining the planner which assembles the activity scheduled. You will also be accountable for handling the channels of communication at the centre and chip in towards the development of new channels.


  • Design, develop and publish content across a range of channels in support of the priorities and objectives.
  • Provide experienced advice to key communicators/functions, helping to inform their decision-making and enhance their communication capabilities.
  • Help develop effective business area and project employee communication and engagement strategies, ensuring they are aligned, conflicts are resolved and priorities are identified and agreed.
  • Lead on event management at the centre such as market place events, roadshows etc, to ensure the events have the right approval, stakeholder awareness and provide event management support where required.
  • Own the centre visits management process to ensure that the key stakeholders have the right information to make decisions and that the centre and NATS are showcased to external customers and VIPs.
  • Work closely with members of the wider communications team to support and coordinate internal campaigns and to ensure that messages and activities are aligned and opportunities shared.
  • Support the incident management process in whichever role is appropriate at the time.
  • Ensure NATS brand is implemented correctly and consistently across employee communications channels and materials.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A track record of delivering effective employee communications campaigns
  • A self-starter with the energy and organisational skills to develop and lead multiple projects with multiple stakeholders and changing agendas
  • Successful team player
  • A highly personable character with well-developed social and influencing skills and the ability to overcome resistance
  • Intrinsically aware of potential newsworthy or contentious issues
  • Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
  • Knowledge and experience of working with a range of related suppliers and agencies, for example designers and print agencies
  • Knowledge and experience of using SharePoint an advantage
  • Coaching experience, an advantage
  • A degree in a relevant subject would be an advantage
