Skills2Film: Creating Video Comms: London

Skills2Film: Creating Video Comms: London

Our ability to communicate to our teams internally – as well as our clients externally – has never been so important! Video content is now essential in internal communications but creating GREAT content is not easy.

The visual sense is one of the most powerful senses we possess - we use it from when we’re born until we die. The visual image engages and stimulates emotions in the human brain, it’s why we look at a Rembrandt or take a selfie!

But like the great artists of the past we need skill and technique to engage our viewers, so they remember our visual images days and weeks later.

This one-day course on the creation of video content will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to produce compelling and engaging video content - including visual storytelling, camera craft, production and presentation. Script writing in detail is not covered on this workshop.

Learning objectives

8 IoIC CPD Points

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Understand how the viewer can be engaged by the visual image
  • Be able to tell a story with a camera
  • Know what equipment to buy or hire
  • Understand how to get authentic presentation in front of camera
  • Feel motivated to unleash your own visual creativity

Who should attend?

Delegates who attend are internal communicators who want to create a new and dynamic method of communication to their employees. We have trained up companies already shooting in their own studio and who want to be more creative with their video content messaging, through to companies that are starting video content creation for the first time, often with their smartphones.

The programme consists of

  • How we use the visual medium to engage the audience subconscious.
  • How does the visual image effect the human brain and what triggers an emotional reaction?
  • How can we use the visual image to sell our business and keep our viewers engaged?
  • We will look at a range of material from paintings to TV clips – and explore how we can apply the same story telling techniques.
  • Using the camera to tell your story. How to film an interview or short branded film.
  • How we use light, frame size, composition, perspective and how we make our contributor on screen convince with the words they say, and how they say it.
  • Tailoring the skills to your company.
  • We will study creating a simple storyboard and sequence and we will look at relevant equipment procurement.
