Insight: Improving employment standards

The Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a voluntary membership and assessment scheme designed to improve employment standards across the entire city region and is open to all employers of any size or sector. Ian will explain how it works with employers to support best practice across a range of characteristics, including effective management, employee engagement and health and wellbeing. All elements of good employment rely on effective communication and this presentation will focus on the changing world of work and the importance of adapting communication styles for the five generations of employees that we now find in our workplaces

Insight: Trust and the findings of the IC Index 2024

The IC Index 2024 report highlighted the strong link between organisational trust and effective internal communication. Produced by IoIC and Ipsos Karian and Box, the research reveals that 80% of employees who rate IC as excellent trust their leadership, compared to only 6% with poor IC ratings. Tsara will reflect on the report’s findings – including exploring trust in AI-driven communications, employee views on change communication and some exclusive IC insights not previously released.

Amnesty International has employees globally who can sometimes find themselves thevictims of civil unrest or other regional crises. Melanie Hinds, global head of internal communications & employee engagement at Amnesty International, will talk about how she works alongside global human resources, security and finance colleagues to support employees in regional crisis situations.

Panel: EDI

Our panel will look at the crucial need for effective EDI communication in our organisations and how internal comms can work with teams across the business to best support all minority groups. Experts from Manchester Pride, the Church of England, Manchester Metropolitan University and All4Inclusion will share perspectives and advice on ensuring messages, support and behaviour – from the top down – are authentic and inclusive. They will consider what a poor culture looks like and the negative impact this has on employee wellbeing and business performance.
