Group Membership

Virgin Media share their experience of IoIC membership

"I have really enjoyed being a part of the advisory group for the competency framework, it felt great to dust off my old L&D brain cells and be able to input and shape the framework"

Why did you join as a group member?

At Virgin Media we were really keen to give our team the exposure to IC peers across other industries to be able to learn and grow.

Have you used the benefits? What’s been of most value to you?

For me personally I have really enjoyed being a part of the advisory group for the competency framework , it felt great to dust off my old L&D brain cells and be able to input and shape the framework whilst working with a really great and divers bunch of IC professionals.
I have also attended some think tank type events where again I have felt really privileged to chat to some fellow IC professionals to share ideas, challenge each other and grow.

If you are able, please give us an insight of your team

The Virgin Media IC team has an agile operating model , partnering business outcomes as well as centres of excellence covering Channels, Campaigns, Change and creative services and events. We operate using strategic squads and taskforces. We have created and are embedding one consistent strategic narrative bring it to life in an unmistakably Virgin Media which drives collaboration and advocacy for our people.

Has membership helped your team in the day-to-day work? If so, please could you describe how?

The team have used the membership to network with IC peers to build their relationships and learn and grow. We are currently in the process of rolling out the competency framework which will also provide a self-learning compass for some great personal development plans and provide the opportunity to benchmark across and industry recognised framework.

Would you recommend group membership to other organisations and why?

Yes – it is great to provide your teams with an industry recognised framework for best practice and create a sense of belonging.

What do you think of the re-launched IoIC profession map and have you used it?

We are in the process of rolling it out.
