Details

This one-day course employs business and improvisational methods related to Status, Voice Production, and Manner of Speech to help you improve your performance when presenting to senior managers, conference delegates, interview panels, within work related team structures or during meetings.

You will learn the value of non-verbal communication, including body language and gesture; commonly asked questions such as, 'What do I do when I lose my train of thought?' or, 'What do I do with my hands?' will be addressed and you will leave the course with techniques adapted to your individual needs.

This course offers delegates the opportunity to learn more about themselves as a speaker and discover how they can be more personally effective in a safe and engaging environment. It focuses on managing one's behaviours when addressing a group and on methods to manage how we are coming across to our audience. Delegates will leave with a clear plan and guideline for mentoring or coaching others in their workplace. Both prior and post to the course, delegates will receive supporting materials containing practical exercises to develop skills learnt during the day.

Outline
  • Pre-prepared presentations to identify individual needs and requirements
  • Active relaxation techniques to employ before speaking
  • Effective breathing techniques
  • Body language
  • Projection
  • Articulation
  • Tempo
  • Use of humour and metaphor

Delegates will have the opportunity to put their learning into practical context with a presentation exercise, allowing them to immediately put all of their learning to use.
