Have you set your sights on becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Internal Communication?

IoIC Fellows are an elite group of IC professionals who have been judged by their peers to have made a significant contribution to their profession - and the Fellowship programme has been renewed and refreshed this year.

So why apply for a Fellowship? For starters, it brings advantages over and above the standard Member benefits - and not just being able to add the letters FIIC to your name.

"It's a public, highly respected quality mark and has is also becoming a prerequisite for many employers seeking to recruit for senior IC roles," says IoIC President Suzanne Peck (pictured). "As an institute we value the diversity that professionals with differing backgrounds and abilities bring to the sector and we want to continue to recognise effective contribution."

Being a Fellow will also open up new opportunities, sharing your expertise and knowledge with other IoIC members at national and regional levels and through mentoring activities.

If this all sounds like it's right up your street, consider applying to become a Fellow.

The eligibility criteria are straightforward: you'll need to:

  • Be shaping the strategy, design, delivery or management of IC, or
  • Be responsible for a significant portfolio of IC projects or team of people, or
  • Be acknowledged as an expert in a particular subject area, or for delivering IC education and training.

You'll also need to have been involved with the IC sector for at least 10 years (or to have been an IoIC member for at least two years) and demonstrated a strong commitment to your own personal development.

To apply, complete the application form and if successful at that stage, you'll be asked to sit an interview panel to verify your experience and commitment to internal communication.

So aim high. Set your sights on becoming an IoIC Fellow!
