The UK needs the most engaged employees in Europe if it is to succeed in the post-Brexit business landscape. So says David MacLeod, the man who led the Government Task Force on employee engagement and is now co-chair of Engage For Success.

Speaking exclusively to IoIC, he says however negotiations work out, trading with the rest of Europe is going to get tougher for UK companies – and the only way to compete will be to top the international rankings in employee engagement.

“We’re going to need more agile and engaged employees who deliver more innovation, more customer service, more efficient ways to do business,” he says.

“Given that access to the markets will be more difficult, we’ll need to be better than the Germans, the French, the Spanish and so on. At the moment we’re nowhere near the top…”
