The Future of Work: Trends Report

Although it may seem like a world away now, many of you will remember the survey we ran at the end of 2019. We wanted to learn more about our members’ understanding of the central themes driving change in our workplaces.

A massive ‘thank you’ to those who provided feedback. We used it to commission a Future of Work Trends Report, to provide you with an enhanced understanding of how and why our working lives are changing.

More importantly, we wanted to highlight the critical role of the internal communications profession in times of profound change.

In the past month, the world has been turned upside down by the escalating Coronavirus pandemic. The global effort to slow viral transmission has resulted in many countries mandating self-isolation and enforced social lock-down, measures that are both unprecedented and game-changing. 

The long-term impact on our work and our lives is yet to be determined, but already, at this early stage, we all have a sense that things will never quite be the same again.

One thing that’s already apparent, however, is that world-class communication, delivered with clarity, in times of crisis, is vital.

We considered delaying the launch of this report – against the wider backdrop, it seemed that the timing might be a little off.

And yet, in many ways, we feel that this report is perhaps more timely than ever

Our world is evolving at lightning speed, and if we are to manage these shifts to our collective optimal advantage, how we communicate with each other, across organisations, and other networks of connection, has never been more critical.
