IoIC has been awarded a Diploma of Honour by its European umbrella organisation, FEIEA.

The honour was presented by FEIEA secretary general Carlos Manuel de Almeida at the group’s Grand Prix 2014 to what he called “an epic organisation”.

“It’s a great honour,” said IoIC president Suzanne Peck (pictured after the ceremony with Institute events manager Brenda Scott and IoIC chief executive Steve Doswell) . “We’ve never known a country association to ever win an award like this, it always goes to an individual, so it was a complete surprise.

“It will have pride of place in the Institute’s new office.”

There was further UK success in the Grand Prix with three British entries taking top prizes.

Sequel Group won Best Audio/Visual for A Day In My Life – Serving Customers With Disabilities and Impairmanets, made for Barclays.

Heathrow Life, produced by beetroot, was judged Best Internal Newspaper and 44 Communications took the top prize for Best Image with the cover shot from their commemorative book, Unprecedented, produced for National Grid US staff member in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

James Wckham of beetroot said: "I'm delighted. We produce Heathrow Life for the frontline operations staff at Heathrow - the guys who work shifts and are never at a desk, like security officers and engineers.

"We try and produce it as close as possible to what they're used to, so it looks a bit like the Evening Standard or Metro and it's always about them - as much as possible in their own words - and barely a manager in sight."
