More than half of employers are reviewing their overall pay and grading structure to ensure remuneration remains fair, following the introduction of the National Living Wage (NLW).

However, 18.4% said they would consider using apprentices and younger workers as under-25s are not covered by the law, and 6.1% said they would need to make workers redundant.
The figures come from research by Croner’s specialist pay & benefits team, which surveyed 100 organisations on a range of questions relating to NLW.
The full report is available to download for FREE by IoIC members in the 'Research' section of this website here – and covers:
- what should be included in the NLW
- who should be paid the NLW
- the impact it will have on business
- potential issues facing employers
- possible NLW age discrimination
- penalties for non-compliance, and
- ideas for coping with the pay rise.
Advice on the NLW is also available by phone for IoIC members via the Croner Business Support Helpline – details here
