IoIC is pleased to announce the appointment of Rich Baker as director of the Institute's Central region.

Rich is currently head of internal communications for Carlsberg UK. He has over 20 years’ management experience and held senior internal communications and employee engagement roles with London Midland and Virgin Trains.

Rich was invited to join Engage for Success as an expert adviser in 2010.

He takes over as Central director from Lesley Allman of Allman Communication who is passing on the mantle after four years in the role. IoIC’s regional directors are all volunteers and their appointment is subject to a formal vote by IoIC members in the relevant region, in line with IoIC’s constitution.

IoIC chief executive Steve Doswell said: “As a national organisation, IoIC relies on the capability and vigour of its regional directors to build and maintain its profile around the country. We have been blessed with a succession of strong leaders within Central region and on IoIC’s behalf I would like to express my thanks to Lesley for maintaining our visibility across the Midlands over several years. I wish Rich Baker every success in putting his own stamp on this now well-established role. He is a very welcome addition to our leadership group.”

Commenting on his appointment, Rich said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to join IoIC at what is an exciting time for internal communications.

“Lesley has done a great job leading the region, and helped raise the profile and reputation of internal communications as well as co-ordinating some brilliant events.

“IoIC members make a significant and valuable contribution to the UK and beyond, and I’m keen to help champion their contribution, as well as understand how we can work together across the region, to support our development, opportunities and careers.”
