Members of the next IoIC Board have been revealed - and all will be appointed without the need for a ballot.

By the deadline of 5pm last Thursday (March 31), the Institute had received ten nominations to stand for the Board. They are:

  • Richard Baker (director, IoIC Central, consultant)
  • Liz Cochrane (director, Facta Consult; course director, Kingston Masters in IC Management) *
  • Steve Doswell FIIC (outgoing chief executive, IoIC; consultant *
  • Oliver Howard (head of IC and engagement, Civil Aviation Authority - pictured right)
  • Kate Jones FIIC (head of IC, Tarmac), current Board chair, IoIC *
  • Tamsyn Sandeman (head of comms, Boots plc, Nottingham - pictured below)
  • Justine Stevenson FIIC (communication manager, SABMIller plc) *
  • Phil Weare FIIC (consultant) *
  • Andy Williamson (head of internal communications & engagement, University of East London) *
  • Nada Zbirek (head of marketing, Emperor Design) *

* current IoIC Board Director

That makes ten nominations in all – five men, five women, including five in-house and the others a mix of agency/consultant. IoIC chief executive-designate Jennifer Sproul will automatically become a Member of the IoIC Board.

Following the resolution approved at the 2015 AGM, there are ten vacant Board positions (up to six elected, up to three co-opted, plus the Network director). Therefore, the Institute has sufficient but no more candidates than needed and will not need to hold a ballot.

Steve Doswell says: “It’s potentially a strong Board with a good mix of backgrounds, an exact gender balance and with acres of both professional and IoIC experience to draw on. I’m delighted that existing colleagues have been willing to serve again and also that one third of the new Board are very able and experienced practitioners who are joining the Board for the first time. Not least, I sincerely thank Alastair Scott for his contribution to the Board.”

Members of the incoming Board will be profiled in the May issue of InsideOut.
