Public speaking – the mere thought of it may be enough to send a shiver down your spine. And you’re not alone. Apparently a quarter of us have a fear of public speaking. But there’s no denying it’s a fundamental skill for a communicator when it comes to influencing and informing, whether you’re presenting to a leader, stakeholder or a conference hall of colleagues.

That’s why FutureNet has teamed up with Lyn Roseaman, public speaking coach and author of ‘Now You’re Talking’. Join us for a dedicated development event on Tuesday 25th February – designed to get you more comfortable and confident with the art of public speaking. With more than 25 years’ experience of successfully mentoring, coaching and training colleagues and clients in speaking, Lyn will walk you through the essentials of speeches, talks and presentations, and how to make them work in any situation.

And you’ll even have a chance to put them into practice. Lyn will hand the reins over to you for the second part of the session and ask you to apply these principles to writing a short talk of your own, on a topic of your choice. And if you’re feeling brave enough, you can trial your new-found presentation skills that very evening and have the opportunity for personal feedback from Lyn.

Each ticket comes with a copy of Lyn’s comprehensive guide to public speaking, ‘Now You're Talking’, so you can build on the basics long after the session is finished.

"I heard Lyn speak at the first ‘&Thrive’ networking event for women in the north. She gave great insight into how we introduce ourselves – often defining ourselves by our job titles. Instead, she encouraged us to think of our own elevator pitch. Rather than just say we’re an Internal Comms Manager, she encouraged us to focus on the people we work with and the solutions we provide for their challenges. It’s always the first thing I think of when I introduce myself to someone at networking events." Sarah Whitehouse, Head of Client Development, Words&Pictures
