Factsheet: Storytelling for Internal Communication

Storytelling is an approach, methodology and series of tips and approaches to help improve the effectiveness of internal (and indeed all) communications.

Storytelling emphasises the need to balance emotions and rationality in any form of persuasion; in this respect, it takes much from the theory of Behavioural Economics - that all acts of influence and persuasion need to acknowledge the unconscious, emotional and social factors rather than assume that facts are effective by themselves. Too often we have gone wrong by developing and spreading a culture which has become focused on facts, information, data and details as though that is the only way to influence and persuade our key audiences. Storytelling is an antidote to that approach.

This covers the majority of communication from factsheets, to intranets to presentations and documents across most organisations.
