Factsheet: Neuroscience

What's the factsheet about?

Recent investment in neuroscience and a commitment to understanding more than ever before about how we as humans function, is bringing fresh new insightsinto the workplace. The factsheet will outline some of these insights and the implications for our approach to IC and employee engagement.

Neuroscience is a specialism of science that is concerned with the chemistry ofthe nervous system. Over the past 20 years, thanks to modern technology, we have learnt more about how the nervous system functions than across all the millennia that came before. While there is still much we don’t understand, certain areas such as social awareness, mindfulness, emotional awareness and insight have been extensively researched.

This research provides invaluable insight into human emotion, mindset and behaviour. As we learn more about the nervous system and particularly brain function, weunderstand how to improve decision-making, enhance connection and collaboration. We are also discovering the importance of emotional regulationand resilience. Not only are these essential life skills, they are also invaluable when developing effective communication strategy to engage colleagues within rapidly changing organisational environments.

Would you like to learn more about Neuroscience? We also run a Neuroscience Training Course delivered by Deborah Hulme which will take a deep dive into this fascinating topic and its role in effective internal communication.
