This virtual learning course is delivered over two live sessions. It gives participants the understanding and skills that they need to convert strategy into communications actions. They will be able to play a role in strategy formulation and development and have the have the ability to prepare and implement their own communications strategy. Participants can work together during and between the sessions. They will also have the opportunity to have a one-to-one post course session with the course leader to address specific issues that they may face.

This course is ideal for communications specialists seeking a broader understanding of organisational strategy. It will help those facing major strategy change or perturbation shape their communications to deliver their outcomes. It links to the strategic planning, business acumen and understanding people and cultures competencies of the IoIC profession map at levels 3&4.
Declan Lyons has over 40 years of experience working in communications. As a senior manager, he led communications for major organisational strategic change including the privatisation of a major financial institution. He has worked on national policy development and acted a national delegate at European Union and United Nations level. As a consultant, he has been chef d’equipe for an EU development programme and been senior consultant on others. He has developed national training and development standards and worked closely with organisations converting their strategy into action through targeted communications and effective performance and development. Declan has devised, developed and managed the delivery of over 1,000 training courses and programmes to over 100,000 participants.
Declan has an MBA from Trinity College, is a Fellow and former Council member of the IoIC, a Fellow of Business Excellence Ireland, Member of the Public Relations Ireland. He is a long-time associate specialist with the Institute of Public Administration a constituent college of University College, Dublin. Declan has published widely on management, policy and travel.
