In today's organisations, professional communicators need to flex their own communication styles in order to be seen as trusted business partners and leaders in their own right. A key component of their toolkit is the coaching capability to support and develop the communication effectiveness of their organisational clients.

Leaders, managers and organisational colleagues who want to be seen as authentic and trustworthy need to connect directly with others, communicating with them personally. Coaching them to do this for themselves rather than relying on professional communicators to do it for them is an essential requirement.

This course will benefit communicators who are keen to develop these essential coaching skills and who want to step up to be trusted business partners, leaving delegates equipped with the following:

  • A deeper understanding of why coaching is key to influencing leader and manager communication
  • Practical coaching models to take away and use
  • Confidence in their own ability to use a coaching approach
  • Practical ways of dealing with their own real-life leadership challenges

Participants will also explore:

  • How and why adults learn and change; drawing on their of adult learning and neuroscience
  • When to coach and when not to - how to get permission to coach 'in the moment'
  • How to use simple coaching models
  • How to challenge respectfully - using incisive questions to draw out leaders' understanding of follower motivation and need
  • How to emply the power of empathetic listening with all the senses

The class will be highly interactive and experiential, with the emphasis being on developing participants' own style and strengths in the context of real life examples. The Coaching Masterclass is led by Sheila Hirst, principal of Omiliahirst and with 25 years' experience in comms at SMEs and corportates.
