Red socks and real change: A behavioural economics masterclass

2pm – 2.40pm GMT, 17 November 2026 ‐ 40 mins

Communication often assumes that if people understand something, they will act on it.

But in reality, employee behaviour is shaped by context, habit, social norms, cognitive bias, friction and motivation.

This session introduces behavioural economics as a practical tool for internal communicators who want to move beyond awareness and create meaningful action.

Using the analogy of encouraging employees to wear red socks, it explores how communicators can diagnose behaviour, design better interventions and use nudges ethically and creatively.

Participants will be introduced to practical behavioural science tools, apply them in a live activity, and explore how they can help address workplace challenges including change, leadership, culture and engagement. A real-world case study will show these principles in action.
