Safe to speak: Building psychological safety at work.

Safe to speak: Building psychological safety at work.

Join us for a practical and thought-provoking conversation about what it really takes to create a workplace where people feel safe to speak up.

Psychological safety is about more than inviting feedback. It is shaped by what happens when people challenge a decision, share an unconventional idea, admit they are struggling or say something a leader may not want to hear.

In this fireside chat, Rob Jones, content director at Artful Dog and editor of Voice, IOIC’s membership magazine, will be joined by Minette Norman, leadership consultant and co-author of The Psychological Safety Playbook series. Together, they will explore how everyday behaviours can build – or undermine – trust, how internal communicators can support open dialogue and why positive change can start at every level of an organisation.

The conversation will be followed by audience Q&A.

What you'll gain

  • A clearer understanding of what psychological safety looks like in everyday workplace interactions – and why people may stay silent even when they are invited to speak up
  • Insight into how leaders and communicators can respond to challenge, different perspectives and vulnerability in ways that build rather than undermine trust
  • Practical ideas for creating more open and inclusive conversations, and encouraging positive change through everyday behaviours across an organisation

Who it’s for

Designed for internal communication and employee engagement professionals at all levels, this session will be especially relevant to anyone advising leaders, shaping employee voice and feedback, or working to build greater trust, openness and healthy challenge across their organisation.
