The latest IC Index 2025 makes a compelling case for the power of empathetic leadership. It shows that employees who feel their leaders understand their challenges are significantly more engaged, more trusting and more likely to advocate for their organisation. Yet only 51% of UK employees believe their leaders truly “get” the realities of their working lives – and in the largest organisations, this drops to just 40%. 

The data is clear: when leaders communicate with empathy, authenticity and care, messages resonate more deeply – especially during difficult changes.
