IOIC Festival: North.

A day in Manchester on the questions internal communicators face right now: putting AI to work, proving impact, getting people to act and leading colleagues through change.

Time: 9am - 5pm
Date: 17 November 2026
City: Manchester

About the event

The IOIC Festival comes north.

For the first time, the award-winning IOIC Festival is taking to the road, bringing its curiosity, creativity and community to Manchester. Every internal communicator carries a question they have not had time to answer, from putting AI to work and proving the difference they make, to getting people to act on what they hear and keeping colleagues with them through change. So come with yours. Choose the sessions that matter most to you and leave with an idea you can use.

And because it is a Festival, there is space built in to reflect, talk and think differently about your practice, not just absorb content.

Who is it for?

Internal communication professionals at any stage, from your first role to leading a function, and whether you work in a team or on your own. If you want time away from the day job to think, test ideas against people who get it, and come back with something you can use, this is for you.

What you will get.

Perspectives from within and beyond the profession, practical ideas you can use in your role, and a day alongside practitioners navigating the same opportunities and challenges you are.

What it covers.

Build your own day across two stages: thought leadership on the Inspire stage, workshops and case studies on the Learning stage. Plus 20 minute conversations in the Mentoring zone.

Line-Up confirmed so far.

Opening keynote. Why the big questions of a digital age are still human ones. A writer and BBC Radio presenter opens the day with a fresh look at technology, society and the choices we still get to make.

Beyond box-ticking. From a campaign to communicate to a culture to create. Explore how internal communicators can become trusted, strategic advisers on equity, diversity and inclusion.

Measuring what really matters. Moving from activity to impact. Go beyond open rates and clicks in an interactive workshop, and leave with approaches to show the difference your work makes.

Ask us anything. Your big questions, answered by industry leaders. Submit them through the Festival app during the day, or ask from the floor in the closing session.

From awareness to action. Why understanding a message is not the same as acting on it. Discover the behavioural science tools that help turn awareness into change, then try them out live.

Communicating change at scale. Keeping thousands of colleagues with you through high-risk change. See how one national retailer put communication at the heart of reshaping its store management, and what it did for trust and retention.

Mentoring. Twenty minutes with someone who has been there. Book a one-to-one conversation with an experienced practitioner during the day.

Speakers confirmed from: Cascade Productions, Change Arc, Citizen Housing, Enthuse Communications, Home Office, Prologue Communications and more to come.

Location

Treehouse Hotel Manchester is in the heart of Manchester city centre, on Blackfriars Street (M3 2EQ) in the Deansgate area. Manchester Piccadilly is the city's main train station, with connections all across the UK, including direct trains to London Euston in just over two hours. You can plan your rail journey and get live train running times, accessibility and facility info on Trainline. From Piccadilly, the hotel is a 15-minute walk or a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride. You can also take the Metrolink tram to Deansgate-Castlefield, which is a 5-minute walk from the hotel. Manchester Victoria is a 20-minute walk away, and Manchester Oxford Road is around 10 minutes on foot.

If you are flying in, Manchester Airport is around 30 minutes away. Take the Metrolink tram to Deansgate-Castlefield or a Northern train to Manchester Oxford Road, then walk to the hotel. For local travel, Citymapper is useful for live public transport updates and door-to-door routes.

If you are driving, there is a car park directly beneath the hotel, managed by YourParkingSpace. Rates vary, and spaces can be booked online in advance. Gocompare has designed a fuel price calculator and guidance to help drivers plan ahead for any journey and cut down on fuel use.
