Channel Management for Internal Communication
Channel Management for Internal Communication
Stop Managing Channels. Start Making Them Work.
Great internal communication doesn't happen by accident. It happens when the right message reaches the right people, in the right way, at the right time. That's what drives better listening and conversation, resulting in lasting, meaningful impact for your people, and your business.
Yet most of us default to the channels we know rather than choosing the channel that's actually right for the job. Few of us have properly audited what we've got, or why we're using it.
This course helps you make that shift: choosing channels with intent, building a strategy that your organisation's priorities show up in, and proving to leadership that it's working with a measurement story they can believe.
You'll leave knowing exactly what "good" looks like for your channels, and with the confidence to make it happen.
The course is split over two half-day sessions with a practical task to complete in between to support the application of learning and offer the opportunity for feedback.
Who should attend?
This course is ideal for new or early channel managers, or more experienced practitioners who want to sharpen their approach and refresh their thinking to channels. In short; anyone who has employee channels as part of their responsibilities will benefit from this course.
The course is suited for those working around Level 2 of the IOIC Profession Map.
Learning objectives
By the end of the course, you'll:
- Have the confidence to choose and connect the right channels for any message; no more guesswork
- Turn one-way broadcasts into real, two-way conversations that your people engage with
- Know when to go rich (video, live, face-to-face) and when to keep it lean, and the importance of that choice
- Use your channels to actively shape employee experience, not just deliver information
- Prove the value of your channels with a measurement story that gets leadership buy-in
The course will cover
Part One: 8th October, 14:00 - 17:00
- Why business, internal communication and digital strategy should define your channels - not the other way round
- Strategy for success - how do you define what "good" looks like for your specific business needs?
- How channels decide whether your communication just gets sent, or lands with the right intention
- Communication direction - top-down, lateral, push and pull - and why each earns its place and the importance of feedback and discussion in internal communication.
Task to complete between sessions (channel mapping and success exercise)
Part Two: 15th October, 14:00 - 17:00
- Show/tell/feedback from your self-study task
- Media richness and the "treatment" you give your content (video, podcasts, newsletters, posters and more)
- Multichannel vs omnichannel - and why the difference matters more than you think
- Measurement and the qualitative and quantitative case; how to tell a compelling success story about your channels.
Additional benefits
