Sickness absence in the workplace is at its highest level in fifteen years. Change is constant. Internal communication is not immune to this, 38% of UK communicators said their wellbeing has deteriorated in the past year (Gallagher 2025)

Somewhere in all of that, internal communication practitioners are expected to show up, communicate well, support colleagues, be part of a team and still find time to look after themselves.
