A framework for internal communication professionals, the IoIC Profession Map helps to drive standards, professionalism and skills in internal communication. This year we recognised the need to update this vital resource so that it remains current and useful to IC professionals adapting to the rapid changes underway in organisational environments.
Working closely with our Professional Development Advisory Board, we set out to conduct a light touch review of the IoIC Profession Map to ensure the content remains relevant and reflective for the role of internal communicators.
Since April, we have been taking time to carefully review and consult on changes before implementing them into the new digital design which enables users to explore and engage with the map online, or to download the resource for use individually or with a team, giving users the option to access the valuable information in a way which best suits their working style or preference.
Those familiar with the profession map will notice that the overall feel is now more interactive and functional through the new IoIC website.
Other light touch changes include:
- improved guidance, language and signposting, and ensuring that key priorities are fully integrated into the framework,
- further embedding themes of inclusion, wellbeing, accessibility and equity into the map and guidance, and
- updates in line with changing ways of working, in particular hybrid/flexible working and running hybrid events.
We're very excited about the improvements and adjustments made so far, but we're not done yet! We intend to continue refreshing and innovating our offerings to ensure they remain current and, in 2023, we will be working towards making the map a truly interactive resource by digitising the self-assessment tool and making the user experience even better and more accessible for our growing community.
