As we ease out of summer and into the September rush, I wanted to share a quick update on what’s happening in the IoIC Ireland Network. Whether you’ve been away or just busy, here’s everything you need to know to get back up to speed.

What’s new?

1. How we’ll be communicating from now on.

Earlier this year, many of you shared brilliant feedback on how you'd prefer to hear from us (read the summary). Based on that, we’re making a few changes:

  • More email, less LinkedIn. We’ll be focusing on updates via the official IoIC email channel (this one, which is going to people who have signed up for Ireland events updates) and the IoIC Communities platform and mobile app (view the app download guide).
  • The IoIC as a whole will be changing the way it emails members. For us, this will mean new weekly updates dedicated to specific areas, featuring both Ireland-specific and UK-specific content. Look out for learning opportunities, knowledge hub resources and events/community updates.
  • The IoIC Ireland LinkedIn group will be phased out, as posts aren’t showing up reliably in newsfeeds. I’ll still post on my LinkedIn, but those posts will link back to blog posts and the Communities platform. Quick note: Because of GDPR, I don’t have access to the member distribution list. So if you ever want to get in touch, just drop me a message on LinkedIn or email me at [email protected].

2. Spotlight on the Communities mobile app

It turns out many of you didn’t know that the IoIC Communities platform has a mobile app! We’ll be sharing tips on how to download and use it, and I’d love to hear your ideas on how we can make it a go-to space for sharing knowledge and connecting.

3. Membership Benefits & Resources

As an IoIC member, you have access to some fantastic resources. Over the coming months, I’ll be highlighting resources (relevant to your top challenges) in blog posts and on the Communities forum, I’ll also follow-up events with any relevant resources based on the discussions we have.

FYI: If you haven’t already, check out the latest IC Index. It’s full of great insights about how empathy, listening, and human connection could be the key to engagement.

4. New committee set-up

Lots of you have said you’d like to get more involved, which is fantastic! We’ll be kicking off our first committee meeting soon, so contact me by Friday, 19th September if you’d like to be on the invite list.
