Perfect for those starting out in internal communication, this unique FastTrack programme will introduce you to the key principles of effective internal communication.

This unique fastrack 10-week coaching and learning programme is designed to develop skills, knowledge and confidence for those just starting out in their internal communication careers. 

The course will introduce you to the key principles of internal communication, and will support the development of an effective and meaningful communication approach.  

Delivered over just 10 weeks via a blended learning and coaching approach - including a combination of on-demand content and resources, coaching and activities - the course will provide specialist guidance on core skills, concepts and behaviours, and will equip you with tools and techniques you can implement into your work.  

The group coaching calls provide the opportunity to share your learnings and experieces, bounce ideas, build strong connections and develop your confidence as future practitioners.



What will you learn?

The programme will provide a comprehensive introduction to internal communication - exploring principles, concepts, skills, knowledge and behaviours for great internal communication and best practice approaches. 

The course will also provide you with the opportunity to better understand your strengths and where you contribute, develop your personal communication approach and style, and explore your personal development ambitions. 

Key topics on the course will include:

  • The purpose and value of IC in organisations
  • The behaviours and competencies needed for effective IC
  • What is meant by employee voice and the art of conversation 
  • Channels and how they can be used
  • Stakeholder groups and adapting approaches 
  • Content curation and impact 
  • Working with leaders and managers 
  • Objective and value-driven communication. 

Who is the programme for?

This programme is aimed at those who are starting out in internal communication and who want to build strong foundations on which to develop their future IC careers. The course will support students to explore the possibilities in this growing profession, and will help them to identify their strengths, communication style and interests, and consider their next steps. 

The course is also suitable for those who would like to better understand the role of IC within their organisation but where IC may not be their primary role or ambition, as well as those who have some IC experience but would like support with their communication approach. 

The course does not require any prior knowledge. 

This course is not a certified programme, however it is a great foundation before taking IoIC qualifications.

How is the course delivered?

Delivered over 10 weeks the course has a unique coaching and learning blended approach, with a combination of workshops, group coaching calls, discussion activities, and independent study directed by online content, materials and exercises. 

The course will be delivered fully online via Canvas, our online learning environment, and Zoom for the coaching calls. 

The fully online course includes: 

  • A highly interactive kick-off workshop
  • Weekly group coaching calls
  • On-demand video content, materials, resources and tools
  • Directed and suggested reading
  • Group discussion and engagement activities
  • A highly interactive reflection workshop to round off the course.

About your trainer

Eleanor Tweddell

When does the next course start? 

The next course will start on 13 September 2022 and will run for 10-weeks. Students will have access to the learning platform before the course commences so they can familiarise themselves with the functions and start group introductions. 

How much does the course cost?

The course costs £2150+VAT for members and £2450+VAT for non-members.

Do I need any prior knowledge?

No, the course is suitable for those without any prior internal communication knowledge or experience. 

Is the course fully online?

Yes, the course is fully online with no travel required. 

How do I access the online materials?

Online materials and resources will be released on a weekly basis and will be available 24/7 via a specialist learning platform meaning students can work at their own pace.

What is the time commitment for the course?

The course requires on average a time commitment of around six hours a week, with flexible independent learning a key part of the programme. 

Please note: study hours will differ between learners and can be dependent on time taken reading, note-taking, and on exercises. The above is provided as a guide only. 

Are there any assessments or exams on the course?

The course will include independent exercises to check your progress and learning, but you will not be graded. The course is a professional development coaching and learning programme, therefore the focus is on your professional development and confidence, it is not an academic or certified qualification. 

Does this course count towards my continuing professional development?

Yes, the course will provide you with 18 CPD points.
