Channel Management for Internal Communication: Virtual Learning

This highly interactive workshop will support participants to make the most of their communication channels (digital, written and face-to-face), exploring their purpose and benefits, different directions of communication, and how to ensure you have the appropriate mix and tactics to meet your objectives.

The course will also delve into media richness theory, channel strategy and measurement and how to tell a compelling story about your channels.

The course will provide you with the foundations for your channel strategy, inspiring you to find the optimum blend to support your business and people needs and helping you to deliver meaningful, compelling and purposeful communications.

It will offer practical insights and tips that you can implement straightaway, helping to ensure your messages are heard while encouraging understanding, discussion and the creation of exciting employee experiences.

Who should attend?

The course is most suitable for those working around level two of the Profession Map, in particular new or experienced channel managers, community managers or those looking after Internal Communications platforms, both physical and digital.

The course is aligned to the 'Channel and Community Management' Profession Area of the map, as well as 'Conducting Research, Measuring and Demonstrating Value' and 'Strategy, Planning and Business Accumen'.

Part One – 11th July, 13:30 - 16:30 (BST)

  • The importance of Business, IC and Digital Strategy when defining our channels
  • How channels are essential for the delivery of our work
  • Communication directions - why each are important and what they might look like in typical IC scenarios
  • Channel Mapping - channels that work to their strengths.

Part Two – 18th July, 13:30 - 16:30 (BST)

  • Media Richness and the ‘treatment’ we give our content (video, podcasts, newsletters, posters…)
  • Multichannel vs Omnichannel
  • Measurement - qualitative and quantitative consideration and how you tell a compelling story about your channels.
