IoIC partners with The Carbon Almanac

The IoIC is beyond excited to announce our new partnership with The Carbon Almanac, a single-source repository of climate information curated to kick-start conversation and collective action.

Summer 2022 has once again been one of extreme heat and wildfires burning across mainland Europe.

Here in the UK, for the first time on record, we’ve witnessed our own highest temperatures and unbelievably, communities devastated by heath fires that emergency services were unable to contain.

40°C temperatures and all the chaos that ensues, will soon be the new normal for the UK, unless drastic action is taken to reduce carbon emissions.

It’s no longer possible to ignore the climate crisis.

Organisations have a key role to play here for two reasons. The first is that such a significant proportion of carbon emissions emanate from the commercial world. The second is that collective action is so much more effective than individual action.

The Carbon Almanac is a first-of-its-kind guide to the climate crisis.

It’s a collection of data, facts, illustrations and charts, all beautifully illustrated for ease of reference. It’s the brainchild of bestselling author Seth Godin who galvanised an all-volunteer international collective to write, design and create the book.

As the membership body for the Internal Communication profession, we love this concept.

We believe in the power of conversation to resolve our biggest challenges. And we know that as lovers of communication, our community is best placed to initiate these conversations within our organisations.

Conversation about the climate is vital to help anyone experiencing climate anxiety. It’s also the crucial first step of the collective action we must take within our organisations to embark on the pathway to net zero.

After years of denial, deflection and disinformation, it’s vital to initiate climate change conversations and action with verified, integrity data. The Carbon Almanac is the perfect handbook.
