Communications training for line managers
IoIC

We know that line managers are one of the most valuable communication channels in organisations. But many line managers are not necessarily natural communicators, meaning organisations are missing vital opportunities for successful communication to take place.

IoIC trainers, and communications and leadership specialists, Dominic Walters and Susan Lewes-Daly, have designed this two part training course which can be delivered in-house for line managers in any organisation and which will equip line managers with the skills and knowledge required to become confident and effective communicators, as well as providing insights regarding the role of line managers within the communication matrix.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • have a clear understanding of the communication role for line managers and its importance
  • be equipped with the skills and techniques to build confidence and communicate effectively
  • be able to apply the skills and techniques to day to day work

The course will cover

Part one

  • Clarity on the line manager’s communication role, why it is important and challenges they face in doing it
  • Understanding communication styles and how to get the most from our own and other people’s styles
  • Being clear on why we are communicating and what we need to achieve
  • Articulating messages so they are clear, understandable and memorable
  • Selecting the most appropriate channels to have impact
  • Bringing messages to life and making them relevant and actionable
  • Preparing for self-guided work and peer coaching between modules one and two

Part two

  • Review of personal practice and learning between the modules

  • How to engage people effectively face to face and in virtual meetings/teleconferences

  • The key role of trust and compassion in communication
  • The power of stories and how to use them effectively
