Details

We hope you can join us from 6pm for some good conversation, food, drinks and meet fellow communicators in one of London's most beautiful gardens.

Join us in the beautiful grounds of the Grange Whitehall Hotel for our annual IoIC London summer party.

Step away from your computer screens, grab a well-deserved drink and listen while our six speakers take to the soapbox with some quickfire TED-style talks on thought-provoking IC topics. Don’t worry, there will still be plenty of time for socialising!

We’re really excited that our star-studded speaker line-up includes:

Ezri Carlebach
Did you hear the one about the punk band, the anthropologist, and the MBA student who walked into a bar? Actually, it's not a joke, it's a thought experiment in culture. In business, 'the culture' is sometimes the reason people join, sometimes the target of well-meaning 'nudge' campaigns, and sometimes the phantom lurking behind every failed change initiative. So how can we cut through the thicket and find a common path? Ezri Carlebach will make some suggestions...

Helen Deverell, Helen Deverell Communications
Creativity and diversity of thought
When you need a creative idea who do you turn to? Creativity is so often associated with spontaneity and extroversion, but are we missing a trick by not inviting the introverts?

Deborah Hulme, Minerva Engagement
Time to Think: focus on that which you cannot see
We tend to focus on changing visible behaviour but we don't often think about supporting people and teams to think in a better way. In a way that creates insight and allows people to understand better by making their own connections etc. Deborah will discuss some interesting points for self, leadership and performance generally. She’ll inform and possibly influence how we approach and plan communication - including timing and space.

Paul Brasington, past IoIC chairman
Based on his popular TED-talk, Paul will give us his thoughts on human vs corporate identity.

Isabel Collins, Belonging Space
There’s a challenge with ‘Employer Branding’: not many human beings like the idea of being ‘branded’ like cattle. Isabel will spend her five minutes looking at the power of belonging based on membership rather than ownership. How can we create something that people choose to belong to and want to remain committed to? With changing, flexible employment, how can we belong to several tribes at one time and move between them smoothly? How can we all get the most out of belonging?

Nick Buckley, Mindfulness at Work
Not one to give much away, Nick’s talk is intriguingly titled ‘The Stand-Up Chameleon’. You’ll have to join us to find out more!

Of course, no party is complete without some Instagrammable snaps, and our “selfie booth” will let you snap some memorable photos with IC pals old and new #ioicsummerparty.

We will also be celebrating the achievements of our most recent Diploma graduates, so come along and share in their success.
