Accessible Communication (Member-only)

Accessible Communication (Member-only)

Two IoIC CPD Points

An exclusive, free training session for IoIC members.

This 75-minute session will explore accessibility as an example of inclusive behaviour, why communications should be accessible by design - both from a human and legal angle - and hints and tips for creating more accessible communications for different channels.

The session will also explore AI and accessibility - considering the pros and cons of AI-generated IC through an accessibility lens.

It is not meant to be a technical tutorial – we won’t go in detail through the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance, for example, but we will increase your awareness of disability and accessibility in general, and provide you with lots of helpful resources.

The session will be interactive and there will also be the opportunity for questions, comments and observations.

Overall the session will cover:

  1. Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility
  2. Accessible communications by design – why it matters
  3. Key accessibility issues for written comms and video: from the way we use links to visuals and page layout - including Word, PPT, websites, SharePoint sites/VIVA Engage
  4. Disability language etiquette – how to talk about, and to, our audiences to be disability-inclusive
  5. AI from an accessibility perspective
  6. Q&A.
